Jan Bednarek Has To Be Kept Away From The Opposition Goal After Bizarre Stat Emerges !
Monday, 30th Nov 2020 20:57

When Jan Bednarek goes into the opposition penalty area he needs to be man marked by one of our players, after he scored his third goal for the club against Manchester United, an astonishing statistic has emerged.

When Jan Bednarek put Saints 2-0 up on the hour mark of his Premier League debut for the club back in April 2018 little did he know that this was the first goal in what on Sunday against Manchester United would become a hat trick of a bizarre record.

To jog your memory, Chelsea rallied to score 3 goals and win the game in the final 20 minutes.

Last season Bednarek scored his second ever goal for Saints against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, Shane Long added a second to give Saints a 2-0 lead at half time, a lead that looked comfortable until Wolves again struck a trio of goals to give them what had looked an unlikely win.

You see where i'm going here, on Sunday Bednarek scored again and once again Saints had a 2-0 lead that was blown in a complete turnaround of fortunes in the second half to give the visitors to St Mary's what was an improbably 3-2 victory

So what a spooky co incidence, Jan Bednarek, only three goals scored, all at St Mary's and all have seen a two goal lead turned into a 3-2 defeat.

This Suggests that the Polish defender should be banned from venturing in the oppositions half and if he does so he should be man marked.

Of course away from home he is yet to trouble the scorers as they say in Cricket and therefore has yet to tempt fate, so perhaps in away games he can be allowed to try and score.

Where’s my acknowledgement for pointing this fact out to you.

Just a bad day at the office on 11:25 - Nov 30 with 158 views SalisburySaint

Not sure why anyone got their hopes up too much yesterday, Bednarek has now scored three times v Chelsea, Wolves and now Man Utd.

On each occasion Saints have gone 2-0 up and finished up losing 3-2

I was aware watching game yesterday of first two results when he had scored , but hoping for third time lucky, but no to be.

Should have put a sneaky bet on at 2-0 up as sure the odds would have been pretty good.

Bednarek has scored away from home - last season away to Watford (after the restart), he scored an own goal when we were 2-0 up. Luckily it didn't affect the result and we went on to win 3-1 and could easily have had a few more !!

He can keep scoring OGs away from home, if it means we keep winning the games 3-1 !! :-)

Ralph has largely just the one way of playing and this is why his substitutes are so obvious and unimaginative. As others have said it is no coincidence that we have the record for losing most points from winning positions in the PL. We keep doing the same things with the pressing, but as our stamina drops we’re not able to do the pressing as well as before and teams are able to get back in the game against us. So what is the solution? I would like to see maybe the bolstering of midfield to a 5 losing the second striker. This would allow the fullbacks to get forward more as there would be more cover and/or allow the likes of Djeneppo or Armstrong to attack more. It could be seen as a negative approach, but I think would give us a greater chance to hang onto leads and thus lose that unwanted record?

Sorry Salisbury Saint - my PS (copied below) was under the verdict on 29 Nov. I claim my prize!!

PS Am I right in saying that Jan Nednerak has scored in three games for us, all at home, all games we took a 2-0 lead in and all games we ended up 2-3 in?????
