Ings In Contention For West Ham Game
Tuesday, 29th Dec 2020 09:31

Saints supporters will be pleased to hear that Danny Ings could be back in the Saints squad for the game against West Ham United at St Mary's this evening, but what are his chances of playing ?

Danny Ings was pictured on Monday back in training with the Saints squad at Staplewood, suggesting that he might be a surprise inclusion in the squad for the visit of West Ham United this evening.

But training is still a long way off from being ready for the rigours of a competitive match where you stretch yourself without thinking and that is when hamstring injuries that feel fine when you are holding yourself back on the training ground and it all seems fine, suddenly go again.

So I would be surprised if Ings was to be in the starting line up, indeed worried as we would surely be rushing him back too soon, but I would not be shocked if he was named on the bench, with the extra subs allowed to be named it is a gamble that Ralph Hasenhuttl might be prepared to take and to give him a short period on the pitch at the end if we are chasing the game.

If true ..good news, but I hope that he doesn't run himself into the ground for 95 minutes -especially with the Liverpool fixture up next. I'm sure he wants to play in that one.

If he has a good 60/70 minutes maybe a chance for a sub....like N'Lundulu to test himself against stronger opposition.

He'll probably come on as a sub instead of Long.

Same with Antonio, how much if this is smoke mirrors and mind games we won't really know until tonight.
