Ex Saint Linked With A Return To St Mary's Saturday, 23rd Oct 2021 09:09 Southampton are being linked with a move to bring an old signing of former manager Ronald Koeman, West Ham are also said to be interested, but it is unlikely to excite Saints fans. If you asked Saints fans to list all the players that have played for the club since our return to the Premier League in 2012, it would be a long old list, but perhaps one of the last players that would be remembered is now rumoured to be on the radar of Saints and mooted for a return to St Mary's. So who remembers Filip Djuricic the Serbian midfielder who joined the club on loan from Benfica in January 2015. He started just 3 Premier League games for the club plus another 6 appearances off the bench and is very much the forgotten man of the Ronald Koeman reign. He spent 5 years at Benfica from 2013 to 2018 but rarely actually played for them, spending most of the time out on loan before joining Sassuolo on a permanent basis in Italy where he has been a regular for the past 3 seasons. Now his contract is up in the summer of 2022 and it seems that his agent is keen to tout him around the Premier League. Turning 30 in January Sassuolo might be keen to try and get a fee n that transfer window for a player who is still a regular in the Serbian International squad. I find it hard to believe that Saints with a plethora of midfielders would be interested in a 30 year old for a number of reasons including age, so I treat this rumour with a little scepticism.
