Saints don't seem to have taken the Papa John's trophy draw that seriously in recent years, perhaps that will change with an influx of younger signings plus the departure of some older fringe players.

Saints are rumoured to be taking their B team a lot more seriously this year, in the past it was rare to see a genuine member of the first team squad play for the B team, but that is supposedly about to change and that could see us not only improve our position in the Premier League 2, but also our showing in the Papa John's trophy.

The draw for that competition formally known as the English Football League Trophy and formerly known as the Johnstones Paint Trophy when we won it in 2010 during our time in League One, has now been made.

Southampton B will make to Exeter City, Forest Green Rovers and Newport County.

We have played Exeter & Forest Green before at U21 or B team level, whilst we beat Newport County in the Carabao cup last season by an 8-0 scoreline.
