7 Injury Doubts For Everton Ahead Of Trip To Saints
Thursday, 29th Sep 2022 12:28

Southampton supporters will be pleased to hear that Everton have injury woe's ahead of the game against their team at St Mary's, with 5 set to miss out on the trip and another 2 nearing fitness and 50/50.

The main problem for Frank Lampard will be whether Jordan Pickford will be fit to resume in goal, the England keeper hasn't played since September 3rd, since then he has been out with a thigh injury that ruled him out for not only Everton but England's two internationals.

Back then it was said that he was going to be out for at least a month and it will be exactly 4 week since picking up the injury, it is said that he has now returned to first team training yesterday, but is he fir enough to play against Saints on Saturday is the question, it may be a little too early to throw him back after a month out.

Another who has returned to training is Dominic Calvert Lewin, he missed half of last season through injury and has yet to feature this season for the Toffee's, he is back in training, but will be lacking match sharpness and practice, I would be surprised to see him in the starting line up, but worried if he was named on the bench.

These two are the doubts for Saturday, but Frank Lampard is going to be missing some players and is likely to be without another 5 in total .

Ben Godfrey, Andros Townsend, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and latest wonderkid on the block Nathan Patterson are all set to miss the trip to St Mary's, in truth the first three on this list have barely played this season and are more longer term, but Lampard will be more worried about the latter two who have played big parts so far this season, especially Patterson who has played every minute of Everton's Premier league season so far.

So the big calls will be on Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert Lewin two players who have often been thorns in Saints sides, at 2pm on Saturday no disrespect to either player, but Saints fans will be very relived to see neither on the team sheet.

More worried about our own team Tbf and wether or not the positions will be right , tactics will be right and we play on the front foot .

Yes indeed darthvader! This should be last chance saloon for Ralph. We should be agressive and courageous with both selections and tactics - lets see just how well these youngsters can play. Lose or draw tomorrow and the new owners have a serious and urgent decision to make.

Pedant's corner: Toffees is a simple plural - you don't need the apostrophe.

I agree with darthvader and JoeEgg that it is Ralph's selections that are the important ones. Everton can look after themselves.
