Those who like to watch a local non league side play when Saints are either away or do not have a game, could do worse than pop along to the Snows Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Stags take on Bideford as they look to overtake local rivals Sholing at the top.

When Sholing beat Totton 1-0 a month or so ago, things looked bleak for the Stags, although they had games in hand, automatic promotion was not in their own hands, but in the last four weeks the season has suddenly turned itself around, 4 straight wins in Southern League Division One South aligned with Sholing dropping points mean that the advantage is now with Totton.

Sholing still sit top with 67 points, but Totton are now just 6 points behind and with 4 games in hand, the one automatic promotion spot is now squarely in the Stags hands.

On Saturday they take on Bideford at the Snows Stadium and on paper it looks like a home win, but the visitors from Devon although they are in lower mid table are no mugs as they showed back in January when they held Totton to a 1-1 draw.

So it is an exciting game in prospect with Totton now needing to keep grinding out results and then reign in Sholing by winning the games in hand.

They will be hoping that they can repeat the same fixture last season when in new manager Jimmy Ball's first game in charge they sent the visitors back to Devon on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline.

Another big crowd at the Snows stadium is expected with Saints being away at Manchester United on Sunday and that always means a few Saints supporters turning up to watch.

The Snows Stadium is a modern ground with terracing on all sides and two seated stands, it has plenty of facilities for both food and drinks, with two licensed bars.

If you pay on the gate these prices rise by £2 so best to pay in advance.
