A Rough Guide To Queens Park Rangers Monday, 3rd Nov 2025 11:45 Southampton make the relatively short trip Shepherds Bush on Wednesday evening and one of the more challenging away sections in the division, here is all the info that you may need for the trip ' Saints visit what most will call Loftus Road, but is now known as the MATRADE Loftus Road Stadium, hoping to repeat our last two visits which both saw 1-0 wins to Southampton. The Stadium QPR's ground is in many ways reminiscent of the old Dell in that it has four fairly small stands in close proximity to the pitch and being surrounded by a busy road and houses has little room for further development, but that's where the similarities perhaps end in that it is a neat compact stadium rather than the mis shape the old Dell was, with a capacity of 18,439 its one of the smallest grounds in the Championship this season. The away end has it's challenges, but more of that later.
Getting There. By Car There is a simple way which is longer or a shorter way which is a bit more complicated, the simple way if to take the M25 Heathrow Bound and stay on till Junction 16 and take the M40 London bound (Goes into the A40) and then follow signs for White City and Shepherds Bush, the ground is just off the A40 to the right. Alternatively you could take the M3 and then follow it as it becomes the A316 right into Hammersmith, then follow signs to Shepherds Bush. There are a few shortcuts if you have a map. Post Code for SAT NAV: W12 7PA Car Parking There's not much in the way of parking near the ground, you just have to look for street parking although much of that is either metered, expect to pay around £7 for 3 -4 hours or is restricted to residents only, but if you park far enough away you will find somewhere By Train/Tube The simplest and cheapest way is to get off at Clapham Junction and from there get an overland train to Shepherds Bush station, this is right next to Westfield Shopping Centre. The Stadium has several stations nearby, Shepherds Bush and White City are both on the Central line, White City is probably best if you are heading straight to the ground, whereas if you are looking for a drink or some food Shepherds Bush would be better. if you go via Hammersmith then Shepherds Bush Market is perhaps the most convenient of all. The Away End Situated at the School End of the stadium, this has to be one of the worst away sections not just in the Championship but the entire league, it falls short on several points, firstly its in two tiers, with the entrance to each being situated on different sides of the stadium and with a school behind the ground, ,if you go to the wrong entrance then its not a simple walk to the other, it's the best part of 10 minutes, the upper tier entrance is in Ellerslie Road, the lower tier in South Africa Road, to confuse matter further after the game the police will probably opt to let out the upper tier into South Africa Road only. Secondly although the end was built in the early 1980's, the site lines are appalling, in the upper tier only the first couple of rows can see the goal line, meaning that you have to stand up to do so, which of course the stewards aren't keen on, secondly there are further obstructed views from the railings on the exits and at various points in the corners.
Eating & Drinking In the ground there's the usual selection of food and beer but in the upper tier especially not a lot of room to consume it, near kick off with only a small corridor at the back of the stand its impossible. But at Shepherds Bush Green there are luckily enough plenty of pubs and restaurants as well as takeaways, with other options just off the green along the GoldHawk & Uxbridge Roads. The main away pub these days seems to be Belsushi’s Bar on Shepherd’s Bush Green However it should be noted that these days it seems that there is no allocated away pub and that most of the bars around Shepherds Bush Green do not allow away fans and have doormen who check tickets to enforce this The Police keep a close eye on the pubs and be warned take no nonsense from visiting supporters who want to get a bit lively, after the game it is easier for away fans to get in these pubs, but the police they wont let them stay long and usually clear them off quickly, given this is a night game I would imagine few Saints supporters will be hanging around after the game, which is good because apparently QPR's more volatile element have a habit of emerging around this time to pick off stragglers. There are a good number of pubs off the Goldhawk Road and the farther you get the Shepherds Bush Green the restrictions of home supporters only eases, otherwise you are perhaps better finding a pub near a station a stop or two down the line. Recommended pubs for away fans include The Grove Tavern – 83 Hammersmith Road, W6 0NQ
Quirky QPR Facts> Their celebrity fan is Pete Doherty from the Libertines who before he found fame and infamy, used to produce and sell a fanzine in the mid 1990's called All quiet On The Western Avenue The stadium has held several gigs over the years, the first being Prog Rock band Yes in 1975, The Jam were due to play in the early 80's but the gig was cancelled due to objections.
