Saints Travel To Fulham In The FA Cup 5th Round
Monday, 16th Feb 2026 21:14

Southampton fans hoped for a lower ranked club at home in the FA Cup draw and although they avoided some of the very big guns, they ended up getting a Premier League side away from home.

The draw was not kind to Saints but it could have been crueller, a visit to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham side who still harbour hopes of a place in Europe through their League places is not ideal, but it is one that we might fancy causing an upset in.

The full draw for the ties to be played over the weekend of 7th- 8th March is

Fulham v Southampton

Port Vale or Bristol City v Sunderland

Newcastle v Manchester City

Leeds United v Norwich City

Mansfield Town v Arsenal

Wolves v Liverpool

Wrexham v Chelsea

West Ham v Macclesfield or Brentford

With 10/18 top flight sides left in the competition, I think the odds were always that we were going to get a Prem side. Fulham are not on great form though, so we could cause an upset. Hell it all depends on which consistent Saints side turns up. The Consistantly good Saints, or the Consitantly bad Saints.

Not as impossible a task as it could have been
Will he risk the boys for this one or is it time to get serious?

Not an ideal draw, but at least facing a mid table Premier League side will be give a little insight into how we’ve progressed as a team since last season.
