Southampton Lining Up Move For Modern Target Man Striker In The Summer Thursday, 19th Feb 2026 13:54 Saints are already planning for next season, although it is not yet clear what division they will be in, they will be considering options not only in all positions, but whether it is a Premier League or Championship class player they will be going for. The Transfer window is still over 3 months away, but already Southampton have been linked with a striker. givemesport.com have claimed that the man in question is Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, who has been starring in the Champions League for his club this season, including two goals in the Norwegian club's 3-1 win over Manchester City recently. The 25 year old Dane has scored 29 goals in 51 games in the last two seasons in the Norwegian top flight and his exploits for them in Europe has attracted the attention of other clubs in the recent January transfer window. Norwich City Celtic and Rangers report ably made a bid for him in January, and Wolves, Wolfsburg, Union Berlin, Udinese and Torino who are said to be hovering ready for the summer window to open. The report goes on to say that Saints are looking for a "modern target man" in the summer, although I am not quite sure quite what that means. At 25 the 6ft 1 striker is no spring chicken and has plied his trade in his native Denmark, Iceland and Norway and has slowly but surely built up his reputation, he is yet to win a cap for the Danish full International team, although he has featured up to U19 level. At this stage I would assume that this is more his agent trying to warm up potential suitors than anything concrete.
