Will Southampton Be Signing The Two January Loan Signings In The Summer Tuesday, 5th May 2026 08:43 When they arrived at St Mary's in the last transfer window, it did not exactly excite the Saints supporter base, however both Cyle Larin and Daniel Peretz have far exceeded expectations, but will they be signed permanently in the summer. When it was announced that Bayern Munich's third choice keeper and a Canadian striker playing in Spain were arriving at St Mary's at home, it is fair to say that the Saints supporter social media platforms were full of those once again pointing the finger at Sport Republic and their strategies.
Now both have turned out to be crucial in our unbeaten run in the Championship, a run that has seen us move up from lower mid table to 4th position and a spot in the play offs. But the big question is whether they will be signed on a permanent basis in the summer. Now givemesport.com have picked up on some comments from BBC Radio Solent Sports editor on the situation. They say that there is an option to buy Cyle Larin, but should the club be promoted back to the Premier League, then this option becomes an obligation to buy.
Adam Blackmore added more speculation on the situation on his X feed suggesting that Saints also have a similar agreement in place for Daniel Peretz. Adam Blackmore@AdamBlackmore He was backed by Daily Echo journalist Alfie House Alfie House@AlfieHouseEcho In the case of Peretz it was reported at the time that Saints had an option on him for around £7.5 million. If Saints were to be promoted then it seemingly would throw up a dilemma for Southampton, starring in the Championship is a different matter than stepping up and performing in the Premier League. I would say that should we not go up then we should sign both, but if we were to be promoted then should we really be looking at better options ?
Two years ago the club, without a director of football, made a series of poor signings, that with Russell Martin refusing to play them made the situation even worse, we cannot afford to make the same mistake. Then there is another thing to consider, Arron Ramsdale has not had the best of times at Newcastle United, after spending most of the season on the bench, he broke into the first team in the Premier League, however that run of games ended after the Toon's defeat at Bournemouth and in the two games since Nick Pope has been back in favour with Ramsdale dropping to the bench.
This offer the question as to whether Newcastle will take up their own option to buy Ramsdale and if they don't and Saints go up, whether Ramsdale will return to St Mary's and resume his first team goalkeeping duties. Certainly as good as Peretz has been in the Championship, I don't think many would class him above Ramsdale. So the next few weeks will be interesting both on the pitch and off it and from a transfer perspective Saints cannot make concrete plans until they know what division they will be playing in.
