Southampton Appeal To Be Heard At 6pm This Evening
Wednesday, 20th May 2026 15:40

Sky Sports have reported that Southampton's appeal over the so called Spygate situation will be heard at 6pm this evening, read on for more details.

Sky Sports have put up the following on their news page.

"Sky Sports News understands Southampton's appeal hearing against their play-off expulsion will begin at 6pm tonight.

"It is unclear how far into the evening it will go on."

So we can have a rest from all the speculation until at least 6pm, as has been stated in the club statement, it is not the offence that is being appealed but the sporting sanctions given as a penalty.

This could be over quite quickly this evening or it could take a few hours, it is very unclear.

So they're not even giving it a whole day? Shows how seriously they are taking the appeal.

We've been naive, it would appear, to keep our counsel. And Boro have been rewarded for their badmouthing, doing everything through the media and drumming up the story.
None of them has really considered the fans. Especially the panel.
We've put money into attending every match this season. Including the play offs. So seeing as we have now been excluded, the EFL should refund us for the money lost by fans in the playoffs and arguably for the whole season, which they are treating like a dead rubber for us

After all, if anyone is the victim here, it is the Southampton fans. Where is our justice?

SanMarco I am assuming the secondary hearing would have had all day to consider the evidence. Then I guess it’s down to us to present a compelling case.

Having had an evening to digest it fully I still think we’re stupid. It Tonda is fully unaware culturally then we’ve failed as a club to educate him on English rules and standards. As others have said Will Salt’s actions are that of a guilty man. So there may be a slight defence there in being naive but I doubt it.

That said this punishment is insane when compared to other penalties, especially Leeds in the first instance and more recently Chelsea for 7 seasons of blatant cheating. It’s not justice. I think the big penalties should be on senior management and a fine and a small points deduction would be in line. Instead I feel like Gibson has been in the ear of those involved and told them to go as heavy as possible. Instead we’ve effectively been booted out of the league without being relegated.

Just made the mistake of listening to talk sport, presenters talked over and shouted down Saints fan that was just trying to air his opinion. The witch hunt is complete.

The Championship representatives on the EFL Board are;

Peter Ridsdale Director Preston North End

Neil Bausor Chief Executive Middlesbrough

Zoe Webber Executive Director Norwich.

Did we get a fair hearing?

I am angry but I don't know who at
The draconian punishment would probably not happen to us if we were a London club and certainly wouldn't be i.posed on a Sky 6 club That makes me angry at the EFL
The club could and should have handled this better. The honourable response would have been to hand the tie to Borough before the second leg.
How could an intern who is studying football not know the rules.
The club owe us a full and clear explanation naming all who were complicit.
That makes me angry at the club
Borough reported the incident and should then have made no comment to press or social media That has made me very angry at them
I hope Hull win well so that we can meet Borough next season
