Southampton 2026/27 Fixtures Revealed

At last we have the fixture list for the Championship season, Spygate is all behind us, but the games against Middlesbrough will be high on the interest list, as will the games against our much loved neighbours from Portsmouth, read on for more details.

Here are the fixtures for the forthcoming year, however the first fixture shown will not be our first competitive game of the season, that will come a week earlier when we play in the Carabao Cup 1st round, for the first time played on a weekend.

Saints will travel to Watford on the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Championship season in a game to be played on the Sunday with a 1.30pm kick off for Sky Sports.

Other major dates for the diary are Saturday 10th October when we will host Pompey at St Mary's with the return at Fratton Park being on Saturday 27th February.

Middlesbrough will arrive at St Mary's on the weekend of Saturday 28th November with the return in the North East being on Saturday 13th March.

The season will finish with Sheffield United at home on May 1st.

Other notable dates are the Xmas & new Year period with Charlton away on Boxing Day, followed by West Ham at home on Tuesday 29th December & Cardiff at home on New years Day.

1962saint added 12:25 - Jun 25 The fixtures have been released but the silence is deafening re Tonda's future. I guess all the F.A. big wigs are over in the Americas watching the World cup. Completely unacceptable to announce any ban so close to the start of the season. I sincerely hope that our club will use this as unfair on top of an already severe punishment.

AJDubYa added 12:49 - Jun 25 Agreed 1962 - we need 'clarity' on the manager situation ASAP! This "delay" by the FA (regardless of whether the world cup is on!!!) is not acceptable! There's planning to be done! And we've got a guillotine hanging wistfully above the most critical (in the FC) man's head. Issue a final verdict already!

My argument would be the Club and Players (and Fans) were the most "let down" by his actions, and if they (we?) can 'forgive' Tonda and move on, then banning just ruins his career (in the UK). "The Club" overall has already been punished sufficiently. Let's just drop it all - and any potential / future "cases" against the club. We can't be "compensating" left right and centre to "sort out the problems".

This seems to be the Northern Echo, who are based in Darlington a short distance from Middlesbrough, who seem to be basing it on a Sky Sports story from 2nd June.

Part of the article says

"The EFL can only take action against its member clubs but the FA will have looked at who participated, encouraged and, ultimately, was responsible for the spying missions", though they add that this 'could lead to charges and potential bans"

Ultimately the FA are caught in between a rock and a hard place, for most of it's member clubs spying is not an offence, Saints have been punished under EFL law and not FA law
