Saints have outlined their plans for pre season and for the first time in living memory it doesn't include a home game, so if supporters want to see the team ahead of the opening game, then they will need to travel.

The Daily Echo have outlined the pre season schedule for Saints this summer.

The players will return to training on Monday July 6th, which seems to be a little late, given that the opening competitive game will be less than 5 weeks away, Championship rivals Portsmouth started their preparations last week.

The first part of the week will be about physical work, before starting with the ball later in the week.

Aside from the week in Germany, it will all be based at Staplewood and it is planned that only 3 games will be open for fans to watch, the friendly at Eastleigh and two games in Germany, spread a week apart the first of these is yet to confirm the opponents, with the second being at Munster as already announced.

Saints will depart for Germany on Friday 24th July and will play a non German Bundesliga side that evening, then spend a week training befor facing Munster on Saturday August 1st.

There will also be at least one behind closed doors friendly, potentially one in Germany and another at Staplewood, it is fair to say that you can rule out Middlesbrough being the opponents on that one.
