Daniel Peretz Pulls Out Of Israeli Squad With Injury Thursday, 1st Oct 2026 21:58 Southampton fans will be dismayed to hear that Daniel Peretz's participation in the upcoming South Coast derby is in doubt after he dropped out of the Israel squad with a groin injury. The Daily Echo have reported that Peretz has returned to Staplewood for treatment on the injury. They have been told the decision is precautionary rather than a serious concern, but it will be assessed and could rule him out of the derby clash.
Peretz has suffered a slight strain of the muscle rather than a tear, sources added, but Israeli media Sport5 report that he will be out for 10 days. Saints take on Portsmouth in 10 days' time, on Sunday, October 11 at 12pm, before visiting Norwich City just a few days later on Wednesday, October 14. So that means that Tonda Eckert, assuming that he himself is able to be in charge for the Pompey game, might have a decision to make, George Long is the official number two to Peretz with Jamie Jones as 3rd choice, but Aaron Ramsdale has also been named in the Championship squad and he is undeniably the best keeper at the club in terms of the levels he has played and experience at the highest level.
With such an important game coming up many Southampton supporters will worried about any of the 3 coming in, neither Long or Jones have played much lately and the same can be said for Ramsdale whose last game on loan at Newcastle was almost 6 months ago in mid April. The hope is that Peretz will be fit to play and that it is a strain and not a tear, but the countdown to the game against Portsmouth has now started.
