If Leicester come knocking for Grayson, hopefully Bates will tell them where to go!

Simon Grayson has emerged as a possible contender to replace Nigel Pearson at Leicester.

Pearson's shock departure to Hull this week has left the hotseat at the Walkers' vacant and one of the favourites from the club's glittering era under Martin O'Neill is apparently one of the front-runners to take over.

Grayson being linked with the Foxes job is nothing new, the Midlanders seem to change manager more often than us cleaning living Yorkshire folk change our underwear and every time his name pops up.

Grayson is just one name on an ever increasing list that includes Paulo Sousa, Iain Dowie, Mark Robins, Chris Coleman, Tony Mowbray and even a return for ex-Leicester manager and Leeds defender Micky Adams! - so I doubt we will lose much sleep over these rumours, whch surfaced in Wednesday's Leicester Mercury.

With all due respect to Leicester, they would hardly represent a step-up from Leeds. Despite Grayson's success there as a player, he is a Yorkshire lad and his roots are firmly in Leeds United.

Frankly if Leicester cannot satisfy the ambition of Pearson, who has jumped ship to Hull who are absolutely brassic, then it is unlikely that Milan Mandaric can offer much more than the free/nominal fee signings Ken Bates has allowed Grayson to make.

My sources in Leicester claim that the club is about to be subject to a takeover bid and the potential new-owners have their own man in mind...rest assured Grayson is not that man.
