Walters Move Linked to McGeady's Switch

Skipper Jon Walters’s move to Stoke could depend on Celtic winger Aiden McGeady completing his switch to Spartak Moscow. Walters is understood to be seen as a replacement for Potters wideman Liam Lawrence, who has been lined up to take McGeady's place at Celtic.

McGeady is currently in Moscow discussing his move with the Russian side reportedly expecting the £9.5 million move to go through.

Walters is understood to have travelled to Stoke yesterday for talks after a reported fee of £3 million had been agreed between the clubs, neither of whom has commented on the proposed deal.

Meanwhile, Town’s signing of Márton Fülöp is still to be completed with no new reports of interest from any other clubs in this morning’s papers. Some sections of the Spanish media continue to link Hercules with the Hungarian keeper, but the 27-year-old was previously understood to have turned down the chance to join the newly-promoted La Liga side.

Swansea have confirmed that they have approached Chelsea regarding a £1 million move for Scott Sinclair, a player also linked with the Blues.

Elsewhere, Town have sent a side to the Umbro Galway Cup youth tournament. A young Blues team is competing in the U15 Elite Boys section that they won in 2007.

The Town youngsters lost their first game 3-1 to an FAI Emerging Talent side and beat Welsh club Bangor City 2-0 in their second. They face Norwegian side Stabaek in their final group match today with play-off games on Friday and Saturday.
