Southampton V Liverpool ! Tonight's Line Ups
Monday, 4th Jan 2021 19:02

All the team news from St Mary's as Saints take on Liverpool in the Premier League will the team news be as dramatic as the Boris Johnson press conference due to take place as the game kicks off, find out here.

Shock news from St Mary's as Saints will be without Oriol Romeu & Che Adams in addition to the players initially stated as being absent, also Mohammed Salisu is missing from a bench that has only Shane Long with any real first team experience if you discount Yan Valery with 30 starts in the Premier League to his name.

With Alex McCarthy out with Covid 19 the question is why so many seem to be missing from the squad having not been previously injured.

Saints starting line up is strong, but there is little experienced options off the bench, indeed their appears to not be a central defender.

Saints team to take on Liverpool will be :

Starting XI: Forster (GK), Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Stephens, Bertrand, Diallo, Ward-Prowse (c), Armstrong, Djenepo, Walcott, Ings.

Subs: Lewis (GK), Vokins, Valery, Ramsay, Chauke, Smallbone, NLundulu, Tella, Long.

The Liverpool side will be :

Starting XI: Alisson (GK), Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Fabinho, Robertson, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Kelleher, R.Williams, Phillips, N.Williams, Milner, Jones, Minamino, Shaqiri, Origi.

My only worry is what up with Adams and Romeu seeing that they’re not on the bench (which is where they should be if he’s giving them a rest) I mean I’d think it could be Covid.

Also we certainly do need to get some new signings seeing how almost all of our bench are academy players, half of which have played only like 2 games for us!

We seem to have around 6 players out tonight if you include Salisu who has been on the bench for the last few weeks, you cant legislate for that

Happy for Forster. Wish speedy recovery for McCarthy who has had a good season so far.
Worried about injuries for Adams and Romeu (and Redmond).
