Not had a good flag thread for a while, there were 2 flags behind me on Sunday, a Swansea "loyal" on the Northern Ireland flag and a Union Jack with Swansea loyal or similar with London is our capital on it. Both lasted about 10mins before stewards removed them. What would be the cause of removal, pretty sure a few around me complained about them, one guy was going nuts asking them to be pulled down. Anyone else see these ?

Not sure why stewards would be involved in taking down a Union Jack.
That’s decidedly dodgy territory regardless of your viewpoint.

Well it happened Keith and rightly so imo.

Well the unionist flag deserved removing, not so much the union flag as we have english swans fans.

Imo its disingenuous if you put a union flag up as most of Jacks are Welsh and we are a Welsh team and the ulster flag is well out of order for obvious reasons.

Just my opinion btw.

It got quite heated at one point, I thought originally that it was because it was over advertising but they left a Welsh flag up, so assume it was either breaking some guidelines or some fans complained.

I agree on the politics, but removing a Union Jack is very dodgy territory.
And disrespectful. It goes far further than upsetting people. I noticed mind another Union flag with Swansea on it throughout the game. From what I hear the stewards were best advised not to remove it due to the consequences of potential disorder.

As I've said Keith most swans fans are Welsh so it's quite disrespectful, but that's just my opinion.

I did add something to my post, regarding the actual union flag.
Had one on my uniform in the military for years, nobody ever tried to remove it 😉

Not being disrespectful Ed but a lot of Swans deem themselves as British as well.

Just been sent this.
Seemingly the content on the union flag could be seen as the issue. Unlike the others in the ground.

I tend to agree.

Unless it's something deeply distateful like an ISIS flag, Swastika or Hammer and Sickle the stewards have no business pulling any flag down.

The hysteria over the subject is ridiculous and closed minded.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

IMO the left hand flag is possibly more contentious with its reference to the Red Hand Commandos . No need for either to be up but each to their own

Saw the incident myself.

Leaving aside the politics, the people that put the flags there weren't seated anywhere near those chairs, so I don't see why the people who do sit there should have to put up with having them there if they didn't want them there.

Probably fall into the category of containing politically motivated language though (rightly or wrongly) and would probably be against stadium / league rules.

Red hand commandos were a loyalist terrorist group . What has that got to do with that particular flag ?
Would it be ok to ban the Irish flag, because of the ira ?

There you go then. The Ulster flag has as much right to be on show as any other flag.
