I.Saw On The Road - Can Rams Continue To Glow At Boro?

RamZone reporter I.Saw looks ahead to todays trip to the Riverside Stadium and what he thinks he and other travelling Rams fans may witness.

At Reading on Tuesday night the Rams were under the cosh and it took a world class save by Frank Fielding to keep the scoreline goalless at half time. In the stands we wondered if we could hold out for another forty five minutes under the relentless pressure of the Royals.

As it happened Theo Robinson at the far post, slotted the ball past the keeper and we led. It was our first attack of any meaning and it felt like we had committed the perfect crime, even the eventual draw left a warm glow.

This Saturday and the visit to Middlesbrough will possibly be more of the same and although the home side struggle to break down opponents who sit back and defend, I expect manger Tony Mowbray will demand a response after Forest inflicted their first defeat of the season this week.

Derby though are certainly taking the few chances they create at the moment which bodes well and the addition of Callum Ball to the squad adds the options of a physical presence and the ability to hold the ball which in turn allows others to join in attacks.

The potential of young starlet Mason Bennett may also be on display should he feature after a match winning performance for England's U16's recently.

My Prediction:

 Boro 0 - 1 Rams

Man to Watch:

Marvin Emnes, a slightly built winger with electric pace and an eye for goal. Ignore the hair style this "dead eye dick" has scored eight goals so far this season.

Memory Lane:

Memories of  March 1995, the old Ayesome Park, seats on terraces, the stand overhead stops above our head. Our row of seats the proverbial "Bird Poo Alley".

McFarland's Rams race to a three goal lead against title-chasing Middlesbrough by the interval.

Boro fight back and the score is 3-2 in Derby's favour, exactly the same as the betting slip I have in my hand.  In the closing minutes Marco Gabbadini adds a fourth as I kiss goobye to £250.

You remember those kind of matches.

Swansea City : The facts on players in and out and the strategy behind it
This week has seen some bad financial news for the Swans, and of course more questions than answers yet again. That aside there is some great news from the age grade side at U21 as once again we see a player knocking on the door of the first team squad.
Swansea City : Has Andrew Coleman been in the shower for three months with Bobby Ewing ?
The changing timeline of when Andrew Coleman became Chairmen of Swansea City caused a stir yesterday, our twitter account getting well over eleven thousand views and increasing, which sent website views here in to their many thousands as well.
Swans supporters consult Kieran Maguire and when did Andy start as Chairman ?
News of Swansea City’s financial position hit home yesterday as the club announced further losses. The profit and sustainability rules are forever hanging over a club, and in Swansea City’s case like everyone else it’s a rolling three year issue.
Gwyn’s Eye View : Swansea City v Millwall
Glyn is back with his favourite stats as we build up to the last game of the season. That comes in the form of Millwall who it seems are close to selling their requested 1,148 allocation, so its down to the Jack Army to do their bit this bank holiday weekend.
The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
