Swans Target 10,000 Season Ticket Sales

Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has a vision of 10,000 season ticket sales at the Liberty

The Swans are looking to break the magical five figure barrier for the first time despite the hike in prices that was announced last weekend.  The good news is that the Liberty Stadium though will be one of the cheapest places to watch Championship football next season with the better news being we aren't borrowing against next season's income to increase ticket sales.

With an East Stand ticket available at the very reasonable price of £399 for the season - £20 for matchday entry - it promises to be a bumper crowd week in week out at the Liberty.

"I would like to think we will get up to 10,000 next season," Chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post.

"We're looking for a steady increase as we look to take the club forward and we're hoping to get a number of sell-out crowds in the Championship.

"We have budgeted on the cautious side, but we're hoping to get over 15,000 for every home game next season.

"Our support is a massive factor and, whatever Roberto (Martinez) can do on the field, we want to be classed as a good Championship club off the field as well.

"It was inevitable that prices would go up," Jenkins added.

"We didn't have an all-seater stadium three or four years ago, but we've come a long way since you could pay £11 to stand on the North Bank.

"Everybody wants Championship football and over the next few years everyone will be wanting Premier League football. That comes at a cost.

"Saying that, we have done our best to keep prices as low as possible and, having checked on prices at all Championship clubs, we believe we have done that."

The club have also advised that season ticket prices will be frozen at this level next year irrespective of which division the Swans play in.

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
