Another View On Nicko

A View On Nicko From Jenner Park

Everybody at Barry Town was shocked when reports started to come through that Nicko was going to join the Swans. The disbelief was evident on the League of Wales Mailing List, when even non-Barry fans were shocked. What made it more unbelievable is that Nicko, is supposedly part owner of Barry Town, so we all thought that he would not be going, and it was all a nasty rumour, but he has gone, and life must go on.

The Swansea fans will love Nicko, as he certainly is a character, and his half time, f-word team talks are already legendary! During one of the team talks (or tantrums), Nicko lost his rag, and whilst giving the team a severe bollocking, kicked one of those Lucozade, wire drinks carriers, which immediately tangled around his foot, and he spent the rest of the bollocking, shaking his leg, trying to get the thing off, while the team bit their tongues, trying not to snigger like schoolboys. He is an entertaining figure, but make no bones about it, he wants to be, and very probably will be, the next Welsh manager, so do not be surprised if Sparky goes, that Nicko leaves Swansea in the lurch, the same way he has left Barry, but now you know where his ambitions lie, look forward to a change for the better in Swansea's fortunes.

It would not surprise me if Nicko, does not cherry pick, three of Barry's best players, Jon French (no.8), Jamie Moralee (no.9) and Mike Flynn (no.10) Moralee, was rumoured to be joining you pre-season, but nothing came of it! As you can see, you may end up with a new front row, which in all honesty is probably a lot better than you have got at the moment. It would not surprise me if Gary Lloyd went as well, as he still lives in Llanelli, and this may be his last chance to play in the Nationwide League.

Nicko, probably like all managers is prone to favouritism, and will stick with certain players through thick and thin. I am a bit annoyed that he released two players to Bath, and Merthyr on Monday, and then left himself on the Wednesday!

I cannot say much about Colin Addison, except he has been seen wearing some terrible suits, but all in all, he looks very well preserved for 61, and personally, I wish I looked that good at 37, let alone in my 60's.

Gwyn’s Eye View : Swansea City v Millwall
Glyn is back with his favourite stats as we build up to the last game of the season. That comes in the form of Millwall who it seems are close to selling their requested 1,148 allocation, so its down to the Jack Army to do their bit this bank holiday weekend.
The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
