Is There More To Come?

Are There Answers To More Questions?

Home > Story Index >Interesting But Is There More To Come?

But we wonder is that just the tip of the iceberg? Is there more money that the board know about that has not yet been confirmed and have other people taken things from Swansea City for financial and personal gain? We wonder with interest. Of course, there is a chance that we could find more out when the creditors list is published.
I don't believe that Tony Petty was alone. Will the board come clean with all the information eventually or will we be able to glean it all from the accounts when they are published? Some of the names, assuming of course that there are some, may well surprise the fans. I have no doubt that people that some believed to be OK have probably taken things that they maybe should not have done but we wait and see for that.
Of course, the concerning news of the day is the final confirmation that the club is £1.7m in debt and this figure is increasing. A figure that should prove as a strong wake up call to those who assumed that the club was safe as soon as the takeover was confirmed back in January. Well, we now know that it wasn't safe, as we predicted at the time, and that the hard work was only just beginning. Hard work that has quite likely finished with the situation that we are in today. CVA.
I am not going to write that I advocate the departures of Addison and Nicholas but I am thinking that it was a necessary decision. Addo and Nicho wanted contracts now, the board were not in a position to give them. Maybe they signed their own P60s by talking to the press instead of the club? It's a thought but one that should be in people's minds when they are deciding whether it was the right or wrong decision. Maybe if they had sat down quietly with someone and had the situation explained to them then it would have been avoided but now it is water under the bridge.
Think about this one as well. On Wednesday we sold the lease back to the council for a sum not announced. Had we not done that on Wednesday and still announced CVA today then the lease would be worthless to the football club. As it stands, we have a figure that pays off a substantial amount of what will be paid to clear the debts of the football club. Seems logical to me?
Now of course, there will be the Addo and Nicho side in the Sunday papers this week and you can bet that Mr Rees (Welsh Mirror, News of the World) will be printing it as a very one sided article so I get my argument across here first and ask that you take the balanced view of things. Mr Rees took the former management due out in Swansea last night for a bevvy or two along with a certain Mr Bradshaw (remember him?) so no doubt there will be some dirt flung at the football club.
To be honest, I don't care whether this is right or wrong, my concern is for the football club and we need to back it. There is no way, without major investment, that we could clear the debts of £1.7 million so I applaud the CVA if it gets us back on an even footing. The team are at Carlisle tomorrow, themselves no stranger to similar type situations. Roger Freestone, Nick Cusack and the team need our support and we should never lose sight of that. Not that we ever will.
If you read what has happened over the course of the past few days you can easily believe both arguments of 'it's for the best' and 'they don't know what they are doing' my belief is at the moment still in the former and I can only hope, for all our sakes, that this belief is not tested.
Swansea City will live. Sorry, Swansea City must live.

The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Swansea reject Cullen contract and trigger one year option
Liam Cullen has had his request for a new contract dismissed by Swansea City after discussions broke down last week. The lowest paid ‘senior’ player at the club ( he is twenty five) asked for a better contract increasing his £3,500 a week to around £7,000 a week over three years.
Gwyn’s Eye View : Norwich City v Swansea City ‘The officials’
Thanks to Gwyn we have a thorough assessment of this weeks officials who will take charge at Carrow Road this Saturday at 3pm. Norwich City will be keen to get the points to guarantee their play off slot, and Saturday is their first go.
Sam Parker hasn’t turned down a new deal, he is willing to negotiate
He was a revelation for the Swans for the few games he played this season, and now it emerges Sam Parker has ‘turned down’ a new Swansea City contract. News is thin on the ground, and some of it just incorrect as he looks to involve his representatives in some further negotiations. Plus his current contract runs for two more years.
