Who Needs Corrie When You Have The Swans?

Northampton v Swansea - Match Preview

This is the third time that we have met the Cobblers under the glare of Sky with neither match so far being won by the side that deserved it. Northampton of course were victorious against us at Wembley in 1997 and won promotion because of it whilst we triumphed 4-1 at the Vetch in the last televised game between the two sides. No doubt we will be the ones looking to make it 2-1 in televised meetings and hopefully with a display similar to the one that saw us gain a point at Rushden in our last live appearance.

Brian Flynn will have the luxury of a nearly fully fit squad for this fixture with Brad Maylett and Leon Hylton the only definite absentees although captain Roberto Martinez may not be risked in this game. Also back in contention are Alan Tate, Daniel Nardiello and Mark Wilson all of whom sat out the FA cup win against the cobblers neighbours Rushden last weekend. Nardiello is likely to have to make do with a place on the bench at most as Flynn is likely to continue with a front pairing of Trundle and Nugent. Mark Wilson may also find that he is unable to get back into a midfield after a strong performance from Lenny Johnrose last weekend.

Former Swan Des Lyttle is likely to make his debut for the home side at right back whilst Northampton will hope that their England Under 20 international Chris Carruthers will be back to play at left back. Paul Trollope is on international duty with the full Welsh side and unlikely to be released ahead of the second leg against Russia on Wednesday night. Ian Sampson takes over the captain's armband from Paul Reid who misses out through a knee injury.

Swansea tend to like the Sky cameras with recent performances being good in front of them - QPR in the FA Cup and Wolves in the league cup automatically springing to mind and with Lee Trundle already having attracted the interest of Soccer AM and Mark Lawrenson this season he will no doubt rise even further to the occasion and look to impress the watching public.

So there you have it. Monday night football this week for the Swans and with the sides around them picking up points on the weekend to close the gap on Hull who lost there is no doubt that the Swans will be looking for three points from this fixture and there is no reason why they cannot obtain them.

Let the cameras roll!

Gwyn’s Eye View : Swansea City v Millwall

Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
