Swansea City v Nottingham Forest - Match Preview

From A Swansea Perspective

There is nothing better than a game against a side that won a trophy back in 1979. Or was it 1980. Nothing at all. Its the game that everyone has been waiting for as FEC Nottingham Forest roll into town as league leaders. Maybe some hints of sarcasm in the opening of this preview but it really is a game that we must consider a "must win game" and therefore nothing else surely will do. The post-Rory Fallon era starts here.

Team News

Some good news on the front this week. Tate, Trundle and Craney all return from suspension and should return to the starting line up giving it an all together stronger look. With Fallon now departed to shores new, Bayo will retain his place in the starting line up alongside LT10. Andy Robinson is also fit again

Lewis McGugan could play for Forest wearing a gum shield after having a tooth knocked out against Yeovil.

Nicky Southall and Rune Pedersen are available, but Kris Commons (hamstring) and Sammy Clingan (ban) are missing.

Form Guides

Doesn't form go out of the window when you are playing a once champion of Europe? I would assume so as everyone will surely raise their game against them. Put it this way anyway, Forest are top of the league so they have the best form season to date in the division. Can't argue with that

We're unbeaten at home in 2007. And unbeaten at home since September. Shame we're not unbeaten at Port Talbot though!

What The Bookies Say

At 11/8 the bookies think that home form will be enough to see Swansea home whilst FEC can be backed at 17/10. 11/5 for a draw is a decent bet but, as ever, only if it comes in.

I'm not sure what it says about our strikers but behind Trundle (9/2) second favourite to grab first goal is Fallon at 6/1. Bayo and Robbo are joined by Holt and Tyson at 13/2. Looking at the bargains out there Lawrence at 28/1 must be worth a shot? or a header!

Let's talk doubles and with Trundle returning he can be backed for first goal in a 2-0 win at 35/1

What Do The Fans Think?

94 predictions to date and 72 saying a home win sees a wave of optimism coming over the Swans support. 13 back the draw and 9 the away win.

With Fallon gone, it seems only Trundle is attracting first goalscorer bets with 57 he is well clear of the field. Scorewise its that 2-1 that always attracts the predictions - 32 from 94

The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
