More pleased with this win then the hammerings we have dished out in the previous away games. Yeovil, is a tough place to go. Not many teams win there. They are probably one of the most negative teams you will find, playing 4-5-1 a home, happy for the opposition to have the ball for long period and showing a distinct lack of ambition. Neither less those elements also make it a hard place to go and win, and to play free flowing football. We were never going to create bucket loads of chances today. Throw in some difficult conditions and the game had "get a point and we'll pleased" written all over it(it seemed the home side were happy with that as well) The first half wasn't a spectacle of any kind. We played some decent stuff without a lot of penetration. Most of the good moves coming from Bodde's vision and ability to get things going. Yeovil had a little spell of pressure early on and forced a superb save from Dorus, however it quickly faded and I always felt we showed a little more composure and ability. The goal was well worked and superbly dispatched by Scotland. Some slagged him today near me for being lazy, a worker he certainly aint. But I felt he held it up well and that strike was outstanding. Yeovil decided they did actually want to win the game and came at us(as we should expect) early in the second half and got a goal from shabby set piece defending. Shame because we'd dealt with it comfortably before that and were equally comfortable after it. Yeovil seemed quite happy to retreat again and let us have the ball. For large periods our patient play didn't do much but I always felt if we continued to control the ball for large periods there would be chances to win. The players showed great patience and belief in the tactics drummed into them by the manager and got their rewards with a well worked goal for Bodde after Pratley was unlucky not to score previously. The quick touch passing movement which lead to the goal was simply high class and we saw the game out comfortably and with the introduction of Robinson looked more likely to score then the home side who simply had no ideas what so ever. I'll say at this point I don't give a flying fck how successful Russell Slade is I would never want him managing Swansea City or another like him for that matter. Last season and this in home games against us he has been unbelievably negative and he can stick that kind of dross where the sun don't shine because its boring, negative and incredibly un-entertaining. No wonder Yeovil gates have dropped. But back onto us and we are looking a more then useful outfit. A solid reliable keeper, the defence for all the stick its taken isn't conceding that many and is actually in the form of stats doing quite well. In midfield we are over loaded on quality and there are players up front who can and will score goals. This isn't a post that is getting carried away but the start to the season has been excellent and today we showed a good collection of character to win a difficult away game, in difficult conditions. It wasn't winning ugly, we continued to try and play the ball on the floor but having that something extra to get through games like this wins you promotions as much as the thumpings we have handed out will. There will always be the treat of attractive football with RM but today was perhaps a sign that just maybe the team has the steel, belief, confidence and spirit to compliment that. Here's hoping.
