Monk Jokes: We'll Give Trundle A Dig Pre-Game

Garry Monk has joked that they will have to give Trundle a little dig in the tunnel pre-game on Saturday

The Swansea City captain is likely to come up against his former team mate on Saturday at Ashton Gate as the Swans do battle with Bristol City for the first time since Trundle completed his £1m move back in the summer of last year.

Injuries mean it is likely that Trundle is going to get a start on Saturday and Monk is clearly looking forward to the chance to shut out a man who used to cause so much damage to the Swans opposition.

"Lee has got lots of quality and bags of tricks. I know it will be a strange day for him because of the way he feels about Swansea, but he has got to do a job for Bristol City and I'm sure he'll be trying to get a goal." Monk told the Evening Post

"How will we stop him? Give him a dig in the tunnel maybe, and then get right into him during the game.

"Seriously, Lee is a great lad and I'm sure it will be a good battle.

But we know the talent he has got and we know we're going to have to be very careful with him.

"I'm 99 per cent sure Lee will be involved in the game and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he starts," the centre-back added.

"Bristol City have a lot of good players and it will be a test for us whoever we come up against. But I think their manager might decide it's a game for Lee to start.

"I don't think they quite play the way that suits Lee," Monk said.

"They have got Adebola, a big targetman, and I think they look to feed off him with a quick striker.

"Trunds isn't quite that type. I know he played with Rory Fallon when he was with us, but I don't think they quite clicked.

"Trunds needs his widemen to play the ball into his feet. That's when he comes to life, but I'm not sure Bristol City play that way."

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
