Sunday Is Going To Be Emotional For Me

Player of the year Jordi Gomez could be making his final Swansea bow on Sunday but he admits that he is uncertain over future

Gomez capped a memorable year at Swansea City by being crowned as the supporters player of the year on Wednesday night.   On Sunday he could play his last game for the club although they have openly said that they want him to remain at the Liberty longer term.

There have been newspaper reports of interest from elsewhere - something that the player says he knows nothing about - but at the moment Jordi is concentrating on the job in hand and the one remaining game of this season.

He told the Western Mail “I think the best years for Swansea are still ahead of us

“It’s been a good season but we are progressing every year and, in a few years, the club will be even better.

“I don’t know if I will be involved though. I’d like to be here but I don’t know what will happen.

“I have to see what Espanyol have to say to me. I haven’t spoken to them yet, but I will when I go to Barcelona next week.”

He added: “I don’t know if there are any other options. I only know that Swansea want me to stay here and we will see what happens. If Espanyol say they don’t want me, I will look at the options. But Swansea would be a great choice for me.

“It would be easier for me with all the other Spaniards here. That’s always important when you move abroad.

“It could be my last game on Sunday but then it might not be,” he said. “It will be emotional for me either way though.

“This has been the best year of my career. I have had a fantastic season and I’m very happy with the club, my team-mates and the fans."

Ronald to leave Swansea City : Transfer criteria
The main success possibly bar Josh Tymon has been Ronald over the last five months of the season. Without doubt a raw talent still, his impact in a number of Swansea games last season was exciting and game changing. We had a lengthy chat with a journalist who supports this site and one of the staff at the club. A fairly key member in the decision making tree as well.
