Rodgers Praise For "Outstanding" Dyer

Brendan Rodgers heaped praise on Nathan Dyer - the man that he calls a "soloist"

The Swansea City manager could not be happier with the performances of Dyer - performances that have made him one of the leading contenders for the player of the year award when it is confirmed on Wednesday night.

Dyer has gained much praise for his wide man performances this season and Rodgers told Wales on Sunday “Nathan’s been absolutely outstanding all season

“I’ve been really pleased because when I got here people talked about two players – Nathan Dyer at home and Nathan Dyer away from home.

“I was told he wasn’t the same player, but in all my time here I can’t think of too many games when he hasn’t been on top of his game away from home as well. He’s an amazing little guy who wants to learn and improve and he’s responded this season. Technically he’s very good dribbling and what I call a soloist.

“He’s great in the duel and if he can improve on his goal ratio – and you see now he’s starting to get into areas to shoot – then he will be even better, but he does extra work in training to improve his shooting.

“Maybe he doesn’t score goals but we’ve got other players in the team who can and he gives us that balance on that right side, which is important."

Rodgers was also praising of Alan Tate who stepped in at the last minute to replace Garry Monk and he said “Alan Tate came in late and does what he does, he was steady and showed great leadership.

“But I thought we were outstanding. To come to Millwall, which is a very difficult and uncompromising place, and do so well under the pressure was incredible. We knew Millwall wanted to win the game but from the first roll of the ball we were calm under pressure.

“We haven’t performed away from home as well lately but our focus and mentality has come back into our game now.”

The main success possibly bar Josh Tymon has been Ronald over the last five months of the season. Without doubt a raw talent still, his impact in a number of Swansea games last season was exciting and game changing. We had a lengthy chat with a journalist who supports this site and one of the staff at the club. A fairly key member in the decision making tree as well.
