The Swans have finally got the monkey off their back with their consecutive league wins against Newcastle and Aston Villa and captain Ashley Williams wants to take the momentum that the two wins brings into the next two games and beyond.
It has been 17 long months since the Swans won two consecutive games in the league when West Brom and Arsenal were defeated in the space of three days at the end of November and start of December 2012.
Since then they have failed consistently to out two wins in a row together but now they have overcome that and Ash is looking forward to the last two games against Southampton and Newcastle to build on their excellent end of season form.
Premier League safety has been assured for another season thanks to Saturday's win and the momentum that could be gained from strong performances as well in the last two games of the season should not be underestimated as the Swans start their plans for a fourth consecutive season in the top flight.
"We are happy because a lot has been said about us not getting back-to-back wins in the league for some time,” said Williams.
"We are conscious of the way we have started the second half in many games, and we’ve needed to sort that out.
"So it was pleasing to see us come on strong in the second half. We knew Villa would come at us, but we stamped our authority on the game.
"It’s a massive three points for us. We have two games left and we want to continue building our momentum and take that into next season.”
The talk for large amounts of this season has been to put performances in but all too often the words have not been backed up on the pitch but given the fact that we are now safe and there is no pressure for the last two games it would nice to see the words translate into two more strong performances.
