Young R's Crash in Semis
Rangers Youngsters were beaten 3-0 by Colchester, in the semi final of the Puma Youth Alliance League Cup at Harlington this afternoon.
Despite being drawn away, Colchester's pitches were unplayable so this match took place at a cold, wet and very windy Harlington. The two o clock kick off and the Good Friday holiday, brought in a crowd of more than 150, but after Colchester took the lead on 8 minutes, Rangers were always playing catch up.
With the wind at their backs, Colchester doubled their lead four minutes into the second half, following a neat move. Despite Rangers best efforts to get back into the game which saw the U's keeper make a stunning double save, Colchester got a third in injury time. The return of Danny Maguire off the bench, after a 4 month injury lay off, was probably the only positive in an otherwise disappointing afternoon for the Young R's, who will now turn their attentions to next Saturday and a 1st v 2nd clash with Gillingham, again, at Harlington.
Rangers Youngsters next game is at home to Gillingham, on Saturday 29th March, Kick Off at 10.45am.
All home fixtures are played at Imperial College Sports Ground, Sipson Lane, Harlington, Middlesex.
