No Fresh Approach for Olsson?

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has said that the Swans have made no fresh approach for defender Martin Olsson who is one of their targets in this transfer window.

The Swans have made one approach for the player - whose brother appeared for Blackburn against us in the FA Cup yesterday - but were pushed back by the valuation of the player which is rumoured to be around the £5m mark.

Neil said "If Swansea offered the money that we couldn’t turn down then we will deal with that. That has not been the case. There hasn’t been any contact from Swansea, apart from the initial approach, which was a few days ago. There has been nothing since then. As far as we are concerned it is business as usual.

"I had a conversation with Martin when the initial approach was made just in terms of letting him know the situation, but what I said to him was until things come to a level where we are willing to deal with what is an acceptable offer then you are a Norwich City player and you need to focus on your job here. That is the bottom line. Until such time as that changes, it is business as usual.”

Olsson is under contract with Norwich for another two and a half years and this will be driving their valuation on the player. However, I do think that we may see the Swans return to Norwich for the player with defensive options being short at the Liberty with extra competition definitely being needed in the full back positions.

We have already strengthened with the reported £5m capture of Kyle Naughton and a similar bid could well be what is needed to get Olsson depending on how strong Norwich's resolve is.

Norwich are pushing hard towards a play off place in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last term.

We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
