Our Best Summer Yet?

I am not sure that our summer transfer dealings could have gone any better than we have done as we get the strength that we need in the key areas where we knew it was light last season.

At the end of the season I suspect almost every Swans fan would have told you that a quality goalkeeper, left back and forward options would be the places that needed the priority when we were discussing potential targets.

And with the captures of Nordfeldt, Tabanou, Ayew and Eder gives us just that part as we build a squad that can compete and challenge the record breaking mark that we set last season.

More importantly for me is that we have not lost any of our key players and - bar some small speculation over Ash, Jonjo and Nathan - we haven't really had any interest in the players that took us to that highest ever 8th place last season.

So as it stands now - five weeks before the season starts - I think we can class this season as our best yet. In previous years since our promotion back to the top flight we have made some brilliant transfers in the summer months but this is the first time I can remember where each of the captures to date have a great chance of seeing plenty of first team football next season.

Of course with someone like Kristoffer Nordfeldt then that may only be if Fabianski is off form but you have to know as well that signing will keep Fabianski on his toes given the fact that we now have a viable alternative - and an international one at that.

If you now look through the squad then you know fully we have a group of players who can all step into the team as and when they are needed and much credit should go for that to the manager who has a clear vision of what he wants from his players and which targets he needs, he just lets the Chairman do the rest to secure them.

These are massively exciting times again at Swansea and the next five weeks cannot pass quick enough just to back up what I think is our best summer yet.

The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Swansea reject Cullen contract and trigger one year option
Liam Cullen has had his request for a new contract dismissed by Swansea City after discussions broke down last week. The lowest paid ‘senior’ player at the club ( he is twenty five) asked for a better contract increasing his £3,500 a week to around £7,000 a week over three years.
