Wins For Bournemouth, Newcastle And Watford

Our final pre-season round up of the weekend sees us bring you news of wins for Bournemouth, Newcastle and Watford

Exeter City 1 Bournemouth 2

Bournemouth had to fight back from a goal down to win their friendly at Exeter.

The Premier League's newest arrival trailed to a deflected shot from David Wheeler in the first half but were back on level terms when Dan Gosling scored after 53 minutes.

Over 2000 watched the game at Exeter and they were treated to the decisive moment thanks to Junior Stanislas’ powerful run and finish in front of the away supporters.

Bournemouth played a different side in each half with former Swan Shaun MacDonald playing the second 45 minutes.

Eddie Howe: "Today was the first time we have been slightly disappointed with the performance levels, but there is a long way to go from our perspective.

"We are still working on a lot of aspects of our play and, of course, our fitness levels.

"The next stage will be to increase the playing time the lads get.”

Sacramento Republic 0 Newcastle 1

Ten-man Newcastle United recorded a 1-0 victory over Sacramento Republic on the second game of their pre-season tour of America.

An own-goal from Republic defender James Kiffe was enough to separate the sides at Bonney Field, as the Magpies bounced back from defeat against Club Atlas on Tuesday.

Kiffe put Massadio Haidara's cross into his own net early in the second half, but the night was to turn sour for Haidara, who later received a straight red card for a high tackle on Danny Barrera.

SC Paderborn 07 0 Watford 2

ODION IGHALO made it six goals from four pre-season fixtures, as Watford finished their tour of Germany with a 2-0 victory over SC Paderborn 07.

Matej Vydra gave the Hornets a first-half lead with a clinical finish after meeting a threaded ball through the defence from Troy Deeney.

Substitute Ighalo doubled the advantage within minutes of entering the field after fellow sub Ikechi Anya’s ball found the striker, who netted to continue his fine run of goal-scoring form.
