Pre-Chelsea Optimism Remains High

Swans fans are still optimistic that we can get some form of positive result against Chelsea at Stamford this weekend with almost 2 in 3 believing that we will leave Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening with at least a point under our belts.

The Swans have lost all four of their Premier League fixtures at Stamford Bridge, conceding 11 goals in the process but we do have a recent history of winning there with a Capital One Cup semi final win at the ground back in 2013.

This time last year the Swans were preparing for a season opener at Manchester United and we all know what happened there and that will contribute to the optimism for the game as well as what seems to be some very good transfer dealings this summer.

Around 250 people voted in our site poll as to what the result would be against Chelsea with a pretty even split between a win for Chelsea and a win for Swansea with 27% predicting a draw to start the season for both teams.

Chelsea's pre-season has not been as strong as they would have liked whilst the Swans drew 4 of our 5 pre-season friendlies not that you can read much into anything that happens in pre-season (remember what happened the week before Manchester United last season?)

Let's hope that the optimism is not misplaced for this particular fixture and that Planet Swans poll voters are a good knowledgeable base of what is about to happen.

With the Swans retained list about to be named, generally around the 18th of the month, we take a look at those who stay, and their value to the club. The players who have the determination to turn next season in to more than a passing parade and a dismal home loss record.
Swansea City : The confusing decision making for a whole season
It was a pretty poor end to what can only be described as a disappointing football season for Swansea City. The defeat to Millwall yesterday was a display that has frustrated Swansea City supporters all season. A lack of effort, intensity and desire rewarding the home support with yet another home loss.
