Ash Is Going Nowhere...

We all knew it really but it is always nice to hear things sometimes from the horse's mouth and that is what has finally happened when Ashley Williams confirmed that he was staying at Swansea finally ending speculation of a move.

Crystal Palace have tried and Everton were rumoured to be thinking about doing the same but the Swans were never likely to want to sell their star man and now he himself has confirmed that his future lies at Swansea.

It is a huge season ahead for Williams for both club and country. He is leading the Swans into a 5th season in the Premier League and looking for them to build on the record breaking season they had last time around. And when that is all over he looks set to be the first Wales captain for almost 60 years to lead his country to the final stages of a major competition with Wales poised nicely at the top of their qualifying group with the seemingly hardest fixtures already done and out of the way.

Changing anything at this stage of his career would seem wrong and we have always said that on here but the plus is of course that the player agrees as he told BBC Sport "I'll be staying. The gaffer has already said that

"I'm used to dealing with the speculation and bids. It's part of the job and I just take it as a compliment and shows that you're doing your job properly.

"I'm committed to Swansea and just concentrating on Swansea this pre-season.

"It's no drama for me

"I'm used to answering these questions for a few years. It's no big thing for me, it's normal, it's part of the job. I let other people deal with that.

"There will come a time when Swansea will say 'we've had enough'. But I just get on with the job and lead this group of players to something we've never been to before, which we did last season.

"It's something I'm really proud of with Wales and Swansea. If we can do something like that again, I'll be extremely proud of the guys."

Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies
There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team. It turned out to be a masterstroke despite a fifteen minute period in the second half, and some uneasy moments at the end of this Championship fixture.

No show at Coventry so will tonight be different ?
The game later today at Oxford United is a test of character, and no doubt of how fearless the mind must be to take on a challenge and meet it head on. That test which wasn’t taken at Coventry comes tonight at the Kassam Stadium. We can only hope so because there will be a big welcome from the Indy within the sold out Swansea support for sure.
