Shambolic Swans Send Leicester Top

For me today we witnessed the last performance of a Garry Monk team at Swansea City as a pathetic display resulted in Leicester winning a game 3-0 that they could have won by at least eight and highlighting everything that is wrong about our team at the moment.

This is a really hard match report to write because we were more inept than I thought possible and whilst I have always been a big fan of giving Monk the time I thought he deserved to turn it around it is pretty clear that we are not going to turn it around and therefore a change needs to be made.

From the moment the defensive error waiting to happen that is Kyle Bartley conceded a corner that led to the first goal to the very final whistle the Swans were a distant second best against a side that top the Premier League on the first weekend in December.

Leicester at the moment are everything that we would like the Swans to be - confident, assured and quick on the attack and creating plenty of chances although in fairness they also will not come up against a defence as generous as ours too often this season.

When they have the ball they have players that want the ball and look to make space to get that ball. In contrast when we break we have players that watch the ball and do everything that they can do to ensure that they cannot be open for a pass.

The one exception for me was Leon Britton who wanted it so badly he was hauled off whilst the static and motionless Ki put in another performance that would look poor at Ashleigh Road let alone the Liberty Stadium and the Premier League.

The three goals were as easy as each other with the third summing it up as the Leicester player waltzed through our defence unchallenged to set up a hat trick for the striker who has played second fiddle to Jamie Vardy's goalscoring exploits but still has eleven this season, almost as many as our entire team.

The lack of effort was the biggest problem for me today and why we need to make that change. The logic of giving time was that there are potentially easier fixtures to come over Christmas but it is a pointless scenario now as we aren't even threatening let alone likely to score.

I don't think I will go into much more detail than this but it really is impossible to see anything other than a managerial change coming up in the week.

Over to you Huw.

The vultures were circling overhead. The bleached bones of the dead lay all around. Wait…a movement…a moving hand. A hen peckered face turns to the light and screams out, ‘Jack Butty here. You’re all gonners and gooners.’ And so, it came to pass…
