Paul Clement dropped a reasonably large hint last night that Fernando Llorente will be staying at the Liberty Stadium when he talked about needing the striker back after Tammy Abraham was taken off against Sampdoria as a "precaution"
Llorente has been the subject of transfer speculation for most of the summer with Chelsea interested in taking the striker to Stamford Bridge and he has missed out totally on the Swans preparations thanks to the broken arm he suffered in the summer.
It has been reported in the close season that the Swans had put a £15m+ valuation on the player amid the Chelsea interest but there has been no firm interest in the player who scored so freely at the back end of last season as we avoided relegation from the Premier League.
And he suggested that Llorente could be back for the visit of Manchester United on August 19th although he admitted that it was "touch and go" when talking after the demolition of Sampdoria
"We want Fernando back as quickly as possible — I am looking forward to having options with Fernando, Tammy, Jordan Ayew and also Oli McBurnie,” Clement said.
"Luciano Narsingh also came on and did well today. That’s what I want. I would like to have Fernando back for Manchester United, but he will be touch and go.”
Abraham was very impressive in his home debut yesterday afternoon but was taken off in the second half as a precautionary measure to ensure he would be fit for the Premier League opener at Southampton next weekend
"Tammy coming off was more a precaution than anything,” said the Swans manager.
"He felt a bit tight in the groin so rather than risk it, he said he wanted to come off.”
