Monday Supplement : Fabio in talks today, Ayew Covid worry, Tuesday match news : Winter concerns

The week kicks off on Swansea Independent with confirmation Fabio Borini is in discussions with the club to sign a pay as you play, with bonuses contract as the swans look to increase their striking options. Jordan Ayew tests positive for COVID-19 and the effects on Andre’. Coventry City Tuesday match news.

Jordan Ayew has tested positive for Covid-19 after his spell with the Ghana international squad. Palace manager Roy is quoted as saying "He's been away with Ghana, which we weren't exactly delighted to accept that he had to do. Like several other Ghanaian players, I believe when they have gone back to their clubs, they have tested positive."

Ayew's compatriot Bernard Mensah has also tested positive for coronavirus after returning to his club side Besiktas following international duty. Besiktas midfielder Mensah was the first to be announced positive. Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo, Hoffenheim centre-back Kasim Nuhu Adams and Vitoria Guimaraes left-back Gideon Mensah have all been reported to have been infected while Trabzonspor forward Caleb Ekuban is reportedly showing unconfirmed symptoms. This is a real worry for Steve Cooper as Andre’ has had close contact with all of the Swansea City squad players since his return. His last COVID-19 test was negative, however this morning he will undergo more tests. Swansea City have allowed their players to test themselves at home during the last few months. Today could have massive impact on tomorrow nights away match against Coventry City. Fingers crossed on that front.

Cooper has plenty to think about today

Fabio Borini is keen to join Swansea City this week as a free agent, Talks are already underway and Fabio can join at anytime due to his free status. The terms on him joining Swansea will be talked through today and if required on Wednesday morning with Julian Winter CEO. Interestingly the BBC reported that Cooper wasn’t involved in any player negotiations reference contracts last week, once again showing that the club have carried on their familiar style of recruitment which has been in place since the days of Paulo Sousa. Why it would be a surprise is anyone’s guess ? Free agent Rajiv van la Parra is also discussing terms but if there’s a choice then Swans fans would want Borini all day long.

Winter being urged to get the Borini deal over the line

Fabio has worked with Mike Marsh at Liverpool and is known to Steve Cooper who would jump at the chance of adding him to the Matchday squad. Fabio is also quoted as wanting to return to the swans. Things will develop this week, and we all hope he returns to a club he has fond memories of.

Steve Coopers pre match press conference will appear here this afternoon with Gibbs - White definitely out but George Byers is close to selection. Kasey Palmer didn’t disappoint when he came on as substitute in the defeat to Huddersfield on Saturday and will be pressing for a start, however the industrious Korey Smith is expected to retain his place alongside Matt Grimes with Gyökeres just ahead of them. If fit Ayew will continue with Jamal Lowe being supported by Jake Bidwell and Connor Roberts. The centre back three will most certainly feature new signing Ryan Bennett who pushed hard to get his transfer through from Wolves on Friday. Cabango and Guehi will also start.

The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Swansea reject Cullen contract and trigger one year option
Liam Cullen has had his request for a new contract dismissed by Swansea City after discussions broke down last week. The lowest paid ‘senior’ player at the club ( he is twenty five) asked for a better contract increasing his £3,500 a week to around £7,000 a week over three years.

Sam Parker hasn’t turned down a new deal, he is willing to negotiate
He was a revelation for the Swans for the few games he played this season, and now it emerges Sam Parker has ‘turned down’ a new Swansea City contract. News is thin on the ground, and some of it just incorrect as he looks to involve his representatives in some further negotiations. Plus his current contract runs for two more years.
