Southampton On Verge Of Minamino From Liverpool Deal
BBC Sports editor Adam Blackmore is reporting that Saints are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Liverpool' s Takumi Minamino.
Saints are at an advanced stage to sign Takumi Minamino from Liverpool, although with a medical still to be done as we approach the last hour of the deadline at 11pm it is going to be tihat although there is the option of an extension.
Minamino sgned for the Merseyside club a year ago after Liverpool activated a £7.25 million sell on clause.
The Japanese winger was a substitute when his then team Red Bull Salzburg faced Saints in a pre season friendly in 2015 in Austria, ironically the only player left from the Saints team that day still at the club is Shane Long who will probably join Bournemouth if the Minamino deal goes through, although it should be noted that this was a double headed tournament and half of the Saints squad faced Valencia.
Minamino has so far featured in 19 Premier League games, 15 off the bench and scored 1 goal, but at 26 he has played over 200 games for both RB Salzburg and Liverpool.
With competition for places at Anfield tight, Liverpool will be keen to give the versatile attacking player who can play either wide or through the centre some experience in the Premier League.
