Andre Ayew could sign a new contract at Swansea City in 2021

Regardless of how you look at it Andre Ayew will only be involved in four, and hopefully five more games this championship season. The reason as many know is his contract ends at the end of May making him a free agent. At 32 at the end of this year some will say he has one relatively big move left in him, and he will go to the highest bidder, others we know are thinking, how do we keep him at Swansea ? Well, there are a few hurdles, but we have been told it’s possible.

Andre Ayew has featured for much of the season as a first team starter at Swansea, his contribution is unquestionable, his desire and ability the same. He currently earns nearly eighty thousand pounds a week at Swansea and has done so for three years. Over this period alone he has earned well over twelve million pounds gross at Swansea. His signing on fee for the nigh on nineteen million transfer from West Ham was more than your average person earns in a lifetime. Andre Ayew has a fifteen million pounds net worth by today’s reckoning. And we don’t mean by tapping a wiki link or website, this is based on actual fact.

And that’s Andre’s finances in just three years at Swansea.

Ayew has given the clubs cause 100% there is no doubt about it, he stayed and stated he was staying to get the swans back in the premier league. This nearly happened last season and this seasons drama is yet to unfold. What we do know is a fit, focussed and energised Swansea City has to turn up as it’s going to be harder to achieve this season than last. Ayew averages a goal every three games for the swans and this season has scored sixteen goals in 42 appearances. It’s a player everyone would want in their side.

I mean, that flick last weekend eh ?

His age is against him now, but there are many clubs who would think about trying to get his signature, he may even scrape a two year contract in the premier league on reduced money. We all know that won’t be the ridiculous money he is on now, it’s just not going to happen. The pandemic alone ruling that out along with his age and what he can offer. The beauty of another Swans contract was explained to us last night in depth. But it does require some real flexibility from his representative, Abedi Ayew Pele, an ex Marseille player, and Andre’s father. Abedi is a revered and very well known person in Ghana, his nick name was the maestro in the eighties. There is no denying the fact that Abedi Pele was the sensation of African football in the late 1980's to the 1990's. His inimitable skills on the pitch and his dribbling wizardry is reminiscent of a certain Andre and Jordan. Little wonder he won the African footballer of the year for three consecutive times. He is also representative for his other sons, Jordan at Palace and Ibrahim at Europa in Gibraltar. Abedi has earned millions of pounds by way of being involved in his sons careers. He has also been instrumental in numerous other contracts in Europe for African footballers. He started his own football club in Ghana, Nania, and that’s where Andre started his career. His wealth is massive.

Many swans fans may well have forgotten that Andre has spent a season out of his latest swans contract at Fenerbahçe S.K, the season the swans were relegated from the premier league. From that loan move alone Abedi earned around £750,000 in commissions plus of course Fenerbahçe paid sixty per cent of Ayew’s wages. So here’s the deal for Andre Ayew.

Adele Pele Ayew taught his sons many things including passion and loyalty

Swansea City want to retain him regardless of what happens this season, and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t bar a few points. The first one is will Andre Ayew take the reduction in salary he most certainly has to take to stay at Swansea. Next season with no more parachute payments, a reduced financial structure again being implemented Ayew would be offered a decent fifteen thousand pounds a week contract over two years, maybe another year option on that, but by then he will be catching up Wayne Routledge in the age stakes. Then there is injuries to consider, as we have said he isn’t getting any younger, but there are positives. His wife Yvonne is a steadying influence on Andre, they have have a young child, Inaya, and Yvonne only recently found herself on social media platforms, she has tried to stay in the background. Their relationship seems on the surface sound and strong. We all know a happy constant off the pitch results in a very happy constant on it.

Yvonne Ayew has been a happy and steadying influence on Andre

If a future in coaching is his aim then he is well versed in the South Wales area, the processes and many of the people involved. At Swansea he has a club willing to help him and guide him through any processes. However is that enough, not only for Andre but for his father and the Wasserman group based in Los Angeles - with tentacles the world over in sports management ? Andre is linked in here and it could well be his father and Wasserman are so water tight in the percentage game on the back of Andre’s earning power he will have no say in any move or new contract. Swans fans want Andre to stay, and stay at a much lower rate than he is being paid, the club want that too, we can confirm that today. There will be talks about a future for Andre at Swansea, he won’t just be walking away in May.

The real issue is the agent, the sports management company and the deal Andre has with them, which no matter his wishes may well scupper any desire to stay in Wales. Even on a much reduced salary Andre will be on well over half a million pounds a year, so will we Andre at Swansea next season ?

Or has his time at the Liberty finished ?

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
