Players are coming in and quickly at Swansea City

Russell Martin has already indicated that he is in discussions with certain players to come in to the club, hopefully before Saturdays game away at Blackburn Rovers. Coming in to a depleted and very young club Martin and his three man team have already started their search.

Along with assistant Luke Williams, goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton, and Technical and Strategic Development Coach Matt Gill all have come in to Swansea as well as a part of the new structure. This leaves England goalkeeping coach Martin Margetson and Mike Marsh pretty much frozen out of proceedings starting today, the week the season opening games begin. The club have not mentioned anything officially but we have learned a statement from the Liberty is pending on both Margetson and Marsh. As we all know Alan Tate remains at Swansea City, he has already spoken fondly about Russell Martin and his football values.

Luke Williams leaving Stadium MK is a great loss to the club

It’s refreshing to know that Martin is up and ready to do business and has numerous targets, he is hopeful some will arrive this week. " Yes we really hope to get players in, work has already started on that ( we assume Andy Scott is also involved, but as yet his position isn’t clear ) At one point we know he was a candidate to take over from Steve Cooper with a focus on ‘ stepping up’ his personal involvement on the training ground. How he fits in to the mix is something the club will clarify this week as well. When that news came to us Martin and co were not under consideration at the Liberty so Scott is maybe something yet to be announced ?

The new MK Dons coaching team last season that is now in west Wales today

Nothing is known on who it is we should see in the coming days, James Garner has been a topic of conversation as a loan player this summer, he is yet to leave Old Trafford. Of course the swans have several targets that have been put on ice since Steve Cooper left the club, obviously awaiting the new management teams announcement. Now, wether they are to yet again become of interest is anyone’s guess, much of that will depend on Martin’s plans to bring in the players he wants at the Liberty. Which again maybe leaves the position of Scott in limbo, something the club needs to clarify as well. It’s been a big restructure and once again Julian Winter has come through with the goods, it took time but some of the flak he has taken in recent weeks has been laughable. Credit where it is due.

All we need now is full clarity on the staff departing, and who they are as we travel positively in to the next Swansea City chapter.

Who would you like to see at the swans ?

The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
