Today’s team news : Swansea City v Blackpool

In what promises to be a stern test for Swansea City today in the Championship, both sides will fancy the win at the Swansea.Com stadium. Ben Cabango comes in for the suspended Ryan Bennett for the swans. Dujon Sterling and Callum Connolly both come into the Blackpool starting line-up this afternoon.

Ben Cabango makes his first start since the win over West Brom as the sole change for the visit of Blackpool. Sterling and Connolly are two of four changes to the Blackpool side for the fixture, with Jerry Yates back up front and Demetri Mitchell out wide.

Swansea City: Ben Hamer; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Ethan Laird, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Jake Bidwell; Olivier Ntcham, Jamie Paterson; Joel Piroe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Korey Smith, Michael Obafemi, Liam Cullen, Joel Latibeaudiere, Liam Walsh, Rhys Williams.

Blackpool: Daniel Grimshaw, Callum Connolly, James Husband, Jordan Gabriel, Reece James, Ryan Wintle, Jerry Yates, Keshi Anderson, Demetri Mitchell, Marvin Ekpiteta (captain), Dujon Sterling.

Russell Martin: "Our home form has been fantastic. We really enjoy being at Swansea.com in front of our supporters. They’ve been fantastic for us. They play a massive part. "Blackpool are a team I've got a lot of respect for. I came up against them twice last year. They're really good at what they do, they are really well coached. "I'm looking forward to. They play to their strengths and it'll be a tough game, but at home we feel confident.”

Neil Critchley: "You have to take into consideration form, players in form, players playing well, confidence levels, but also the physical state of the players. "That’s not just in terms of their fitness and whether they’ve had a run of games, but also the emotional aspect of the games as well. "We put all those things into our decision-making and injuries obviously play a part as well. So all those things go into the pot, if you like. "We will do that again as staff for the next game and then we’ll decide what we feel is the best thing to do for when we play Swansea City. "A lot of thought goes into it, but it’s also quite simple and straight-forward in my head because we’ve been doing it for a long time.”

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Sam Parker hasn’t turned down a new deal, he is willing to negotiate
He was a revelation for the Swans for the few games he played this season, and now it emerges Sam Parker has ‘turned down’ a new Swansea City contract. News is thin on the ground, and some of it just incorrect as he looks to involve his representatives in some further negotiations. Plus his current contract runs for two more years.
