Jay Fulton : A simple explanation as to why he played again for Swansea - And we will make it simple

In September of last year Jay Fulton was told that he wasn’t in Russell Martin’s long term plans. For whatever reason the new swans boss couldn’t see him in a starting eleven and therefore was allowed to find himself a new club.

Fulton’s agents did just that, they went out and canvassed numerous clubs so he could make the move. We reported the first mutterings of discontent at that time. We published numerous reports on Fulton and consolidated matters in December.

Of course Fulton is under contract at Swansea. The club had the matter pretty much taken out of their hands because of this. Jay didn’t have to leave if a club couldn’t match his financial demands. And despite interest from Barnsley and Blackpool neither club could meet those demands. Cooper’s Forest touted by all as a candidate for his signature couldn’t have been more quieter. Jay held the keys to this transfer, why would he leave when he could earn more by staying at Swansea until the summer ? Lost on a few that one.

Russell Martin had to bite the bullet and we saw Jay included in the squad for the Southampton third round FA Cup tie. What else could Martin do ? After all Jay Fulton may not be in his plans, and the indications that his time at Swansea was finished were scuppered by the player himself. When he did play certain quarters mentioned the fact, almost triumphantly.

Since then the club itself and numerous media outlets have reported the truth behind the player not leaving Swansea, it was of course evident to our readers who trust and support this website. But it took weeks after our initial reports for others to cough up and admit the truth, and eventually some people were able to see a bit clearer. As we have seen since January Jay hasn’t made any headway if at all in Martin’s squad, it’s clear he is not even a bit part player, just a ‘go to’ selection when the bare bones aren’t even visible.

We fully understand Jay’s decision, what would you do ? He knows he will be in a stronger position to barter his departure come the summer, and he may get a few games in too. He is one of quite a few who could depart, obviously Yan Dhanda, anyone think Morgan Whittaker and Liam Cullen could go the same way as well ? It’s more than possible.

We now know Russell Martin and Mark Allen have already started their pursuit of players to come in during the summer. Who they are is very much under wraps, it’s hard to believe there are players out there at budget prices that can play the Martin way. For now we have to trust in the belief of the club and the coaching staff we are on the right course.

To do otherwise would just make this season a complete waste of time.
