Swansea City expecting player movement in and out ‘Details’

Well, we could shake it all about as well. It seems that the recent speculation on Wolves twenty year old Luke Cundle is accurate - but only in as much as Swansea City are making inquiries pending late moves out of the club. It obviously makes sense, as the swans squad stands today they don’t need Cundle, and then there’s a more loosely linked possibility as well, Tim Iroegbunam at Aston Villa.

Described as too good for the Wolves Under 21/23 or whatever they are called these days Cundle will most certainly be leaving Molineux in the coming days for the championship. His preferred midfield role would make him surplus to requirements at Swansea that’s obvious. However, we understand the swans are not only pushing for Cundle’s signature but two established Swansea midfielders are expected to become of interest over the coming week. We assume that is leaving the club on loan. Now, whether that happens or not is open to speculation but when examined the only two who could leave are Jay Fulton or Olivier Ntcham.

Jamie Paterson of course hasn’t featured in recent weeks, allegedly due to injury.

That is of course unless Dan Williams and Brandon Cooper with their salaries combined equal one Luke Cundle, which is highly unlikely. Cundle has premier league appearances under his belt and wouldn’t come to Swansea to get lost in an already packed midfield. With a contract at Wolves for the next four years (2026) Cundle is seen as one who may well impact next season for Wolves. But now he needs first team competitive experience. Ex Swansea coach Bruno Lage is now at the helm at Wolves and he is keen to see his prodigy get as much championship game time as possible. Speculation has also been confirmed that post Tuesday’s League Cup game at Molineux that Preston boss Ryan Lowe held talks with Cundle and Lage. We are also told that the swans had representation at that game as well.

Luke Cundle

After three late substitute appearances for Wolves last season, Cundle’s first real chance came when he surprisingly started away at Spurs in February. A simple but effective performance put him in good stead as Wolves pulled off an impressive victory. Cundle is seen as a more stable and influential midfielder

Away from Wolves it has also been confirmed that an ‘inquiry’ has been made regards Tim Iroegbunam another midfielder and England Under 20 international. Again this player has some premier league experience and has recently signed a new deal which could keep him at Villa until 2027. At nineteen he is a slightly different type of midfielder than Cundle in as much as he is seen as a more direct player with pace, and an incredible work ethos in training. Steven Gerard has commented on several occasions of his commitment to his own development and focussed participation in training. Gerrard has also commented he is the hardest trainer at the club by far.

Tim Iroegbunam

With these inquiries, and the latter is just that, it surely now means there is some financial space to bring in players before the transfer deadline, and if that’s the case then there has to be players leaving. Russell Martin has already made it clear that needs to be the scenario over the coming days. We will keep you updated on Swansea Independent as ever.
