Grant move to Swansea is off ! Where’s the stack of deal sheets Julian ?

The transfer window closed at 11pm UK time with Swansea City not announcing any signings officially but two players coming in seems to be the final news of the day. Unless of course Swans CEO Julian Winter has a stack of agreements already filed in his office.

A deal sheet is a small loophole in the transfer process allowing extra time to be made available for clubs to process new signings. This transfer window a deal sheet is an application to the Premier League or EFL which specifies a transfer has been agreed between two clubs and the player in question’s representatives. It has to be signed by both clubs and the players and representatives.

It seemed that Karlan Grant would join the Swans from West Bromwich Albion on loan and rumours of a player exchange were wide of the mark. Grant is on a decent salary of around £19,000 a week which no doubt held up the transfer being confirmed. On the cheap is the way the Swans do things these days. And have a guess what as we filed this story the deal broke down. Liam Smith an under 18 player at Manchester Dity has also signed for the Swans but for the Under 21 set up.

Despite sources telling us the club had been on the case regards a goalkeeper to back up Andy Fisher now Steven Benda is out for an extended periodic of time no keeper was found. That will leave the very inexperienced Lewis Webb as a potential back up. With comments from both the club and Russell Martin regards bringing in some experience up front, and numerous things underway it seems
bar the players already referred to nothing transpired.

The list of targets has been endless this transfer window, and as it stands Swansea fans are furious with the clubs majority ownership over their inaction, stalling and lack of desire to invest this month. With Swansea only three points off the play offs in a disastrously weak league this was a prime opportunity to pay out not a lot of cash to make the rest of the season a success.

Players will also need more convincing than most to come to Swansea City, speculation on the way the club is run currently won’t enthuse them to sign for sure. And that’s again the fault of the majority ownership. Not the manager or his coaching staff. They are trying to gain an advantage in the championship with one hand behind their backs. Jostling for a position with players that must seem a tiring and endless campaign of thankless work is the norm now at Swansea.

We have reported on several occasions the lack of commitment of the majority ownership at Swansea, especially over the past twelve months. And that has been proven once again this transfer window. So unless there are a stack of completed deal sheets in SA1 this has most certainly been a disappointing and very underwhelming thirty one days.

Again.
