Swansea City enjoy the FA’s facilities before taking on Hull City today : Latest

The Swans trained at St George’s Park Centre in Staffordshire yesterday evening before stopping over for todays onward journey to Humberside to face Hull City. A relaxed Swansea City with three omissions, Joe Allen, Jay Fulton and Liam Walsh trained at the centre and seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.

News will also have reached them of Millwall’s win away at Blackpool last night putting them on sixty eight points in the play offs, the maximum the Swans can achieve this season. A win for Coventry City today at home to Birmingham City will pretty much put paid to any distant hope of the Swans reaching the play offs. It has to be said, the chances were remote to say the least. A brief glance of the championship table should indicate the Swans have fallen short by possibly one win. However, for a team that some Swans fans believed could get relegated six weeks ago Russell Martin has indeed guided his charges to a remarkable six wins out of seven games.

The boss hasn’t lost it

Russell Martin is expected to name a very familiar and similar team to last week when his side beat Norwich City 3-0. Todays opponents Hull City beat Watford 1-0 at home last weekend and were comprehensively beaten at Middlesbrough the week before 3-1. It’s been a season of ups and downs that has seen Liam Rosenior steady the Tigers ship since his appointment in November. Draws with Blackburn, Coventry, Reading and the dramatic 4-4 at Sunderland recently have shown Rosenior has the qualities to carry on his work come next season.

A relaxed atmosphere in Staffordshire yesterday

With plenty of noise about regards new finance coming in to the club at Swansea, and with only one game to go next weekend against West Bromwich Albion the Swans can relax now. It’s extremely unlikely they will trouble the top six, they looked at ease at the FA’s centre of excellence yesterday evening. Swansea City are delighted with the amount of away tickets sold for this game, which is now pretty much a run of the mill end of season game. Not dissimilar to that Reading game a few seasons ago. Some will remember that. Just joking, lightening never strikes twice, does it ?

Safe journey to the large Jack Army support travelling away today !
