Russell Martin to move to Leicester City - Not greeted with the best of responses …

Once again Alan Nixon of The Sun finds himself with an exclusive Swansea news story stating that if Leicester City are relegated the Swans Russell Martin will be their number one target for their Championship campaign. For us this is Nixon putting three and nine together and coming up with a right two and eight - so where did he hear this, and what’s the reaction on Fox’s Talk, the Leicester fans forum ?

As we know Russell Martin has one year left on his contract and is yet to be spoken to regards a new extension of late. That will change in the coming days we are told and we will have more on that around Tuesday or Wednesday. So, where did Nixon get this story from ? Yes, it’s the time of year where agents like to push their clients forwards to get new deals, or thrust them into the spotlight in connection with new clubs. And that’s throughout football, not just players. In this case though a few easily made phone calls knocked this one right on the head. Russell Martin wouldn’t condone that from his representative in the first place, and in any event we have been told directly ‘not a chance’

Nixon also referred to Russell Martin as the ‘New Brendan Rodgers’ in his scoop last night.

Of course the Swans trained at Leicester’s plush facilities before beating Norwich 3-0 recently, maybe Nixon has got his dock greens in a twist from that fairly flimsy connection ? Either way there has been no approach from Leicester City, and you wouldn’t expect one with Dean Smith in the hot seat trying to keep his side in the premier league. Tie in to that info that Russell Martin has had no contact with Leicester on this level and we scratch our heads.

It’s a mystery.

No matter the cause for this link Foxes Talk regulars had to reach for their keyboards within minutes of hearing the news.

Well, Micky, that’s not right, good effort though. We thought that.

Ok Ric, he would probably blow over in the wind.

Then Leicester Loyal said this -

Smiv, below doesn’t fancy the Championship.

We hope that’s Alan Brazil in your profile Miquel, is he Finnish ?

We liked Mr Moore from 94 so much we included him as well. He would fit in well on here.

Tuna me old china got in on the act.

As we can read the Foxes and their hounds have been out already on hearing this news. Whatever happens the future is hard to predict, so do we file this under the bed with the next door neighbours nik naks ? Or warm the car up for Russy and catapult the new Brendan Rodgers to Melton Mowbray for a pork pie and a relegation to League one ?

The fate today’s Swansea footballers would never have to endure
Swansea City bring this season to a close on Saturday with a home game against Millwall. However, what about those bygone days when footballers had no choice but to go down the pit after their career ended, or open a toy shop, pub or retrain ? That thought would petrify todays modern footballer.
Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Sam Parker hasn’t turned down a new deal, he is willing to negotiate
He was a revelation for the Swans for the few games he played this season, and now it emerges Sam Parker has ‘turned down’ a new Swansea City contract. News is thin on the ground, and some of it just incorrect as he looks to involve his representatives in some further negotiations. Plus his current contract runs for two more years.
