Swans in discussions to sell Nathan Wood
Russell Martin has decided that he needs strengthening at the back of his Saints defence. His new club have made a bid of seven million pounds to secure his services ( Sky Sports ) The initial deal has been offered by Southampton with add ons that could reach ten million pounds.
Wood joined the Swans for an undisclosed fee which has often been commented on from nominal to four hundred thousand pounds. The latter is extremely unlikely. Middlesbrough, his previous club had loaned him out to Hibernian in what was a pretty unsuccessful time for the player. Having been at the Swans since June last year Wood has been prominent in all of the clubs first eleven league selections playing forty times last season and featuring in all three matches so far this campaign.
The Indy view
This was always coming, and the Swans will remain resilient in the extreme over this deal. The sums already being talked about are high, and possibly fairly close to what the Swans would agree to. Negotiations will be tense for sure, the Swans and Southampton are still to have their compensation agreed for the loss of Russell Martin and his coaching team before the season began. On the negotiations front we will keep a confidence until it becomes news as to who from the club will forward these discussions.
Apologies for the bugs in the initial report.

Will the Swans learn from their mistakes ? He’s back because he’s a Jack, the Butty man reappears, the snivelling skurvied outcast clinging to life like the barnacle he is. Swansea City : Where are the Swans today on all their player business ? Bar the Macaulay Langstaff news there has been little of any concrete info in the offing this week. Mind you that alone caused a stir. Between now and the transfer window opening on June 14th, which is the date for the European Championships to start there will be little to speculate on.
