This game was a clear indicator that Swansea City have not only have turned the corner this season they can live with the very best in this league. An opening goal from Matt Grimes put the Swans ahead and only a ridiculous decision by referee Anthony Backhouse saw the Swans robbed of a potential equaliser.
What it also displayed was there is still a long way to go for Michael Duff’s men.
Matt Grimes opening goal certainly woke up the Foxes in a keenly contested fixture. Don’t let the result fool you, this was no 3-1 game. Both sides matched each other but the more clinical of the two took the points. Iheanacho came off the bench to score the Foxes third after Fatawu had put his side in front. A lovely bit of play from Dewsbury-Hall set the goal up. Up until the Foxes second goal it was anybody’s game. A handball by Choudhury with the ball goal bound was ignored at 2-1, and that was a certain penalty. Jamal Lowe also had an effort superbly saved by the visitors keeper.
It could be said the Swans were poor at finishing as Jerry Yates fired over when he could have been more composed, and Liam Cullen did all the hard work before rattling the bar just before the break. Harry Darling guided a header wide as the Swans took the first half honours on merit at least. The score was 1-1. Leicester had their chances as well, Jamie Vardy and Mavididi came close before going ahead. Josh Key was the stand out player with a surge of pace preventing a Leicester goal late on, a similar situation with the Iheanacho goal provided more evidence of Key’s incredible pace with the Swans defence at sixes and sevens.
The Foxes also had their chances and maybe that’s the difference today, they took their opportunities and the Swans didn’t when in the glare of the moment. The telling moment was referee Backhouse and Vardy walking off the touch chatting like long lost friends. An abysmal display throughout the game from the official.

Referee Backhouse is exactly where he should be. 2/10. Penalised the Swans on numerous occasions and slowed the game when he could have allowed it to flow.
