Swansea City have been linked with a move for twenty five year old Cameron Humphreys who saw his club, Rotherham United, relegated to League One at the end of last season.
However, we now know no contact, inquiry or anything to move any deal forwards has been made by the Swans. Rotherham have a new manager in Steve Evans who managed both Rotherham and Leeds United pre covid alongside ex Swansea player Paul Raynor. Rayner has followed him to numerous clubs and is again back at Rotherham with Evans. Speaking of Humphreys, Evans stated this week, "Cameron has been really good for me in the three games he’s played but we are not aware of any interest from any club.” Humphreys contract at the Millers runs out at the end of next season.

Obviously a move to some of the clubs linked with him would see him again elevated again to the Championship. However, the Swans are sitting tight with Luke Williams stating yesterday they have a global search on for the right players. News as well that Aberdeen’s Connor Barron, whom the Swans offered five hundred thousand pounds for in January is currently favourite to sign for Glasgow Rangers. No follow up that would be described as concrete has been made by Swansea City. With those two players now not in the urgent in-tray within Williams office it’s Sporting Director, Paul Watson who faces the challenge of encouraging numerous unknown names (at present) to Swansea. He has been given given a total vote of confidence by club Chairman, Andrew Coleman to bring in the players that will most certainly reflect on him and head of recruitment, Martin Hodge come the start of the coming season.
Already they are scouting another Ronald.
For now, and potentially for this summer it is looking like the Swans have more preferred targets to chase, things change but that’s the current situation. It is still early, but there are still some limitations on when players leave as well as coming in before the end of June, if profit and sustainability is being considered. Of course the end of this month will reveal how urgent that situation is.
We are told that Macaulay Langstaff remains a priority for the Swans, however, as things move along he could well fall behind in the striker stakes if this new global reach for players is successful. Trying to predict these things is never easy, obviously news changes day to day as do the very long list of targets the Swans are compiling, and have compiled.
Statistics and data, compatibility and professionalism have all formed a part of this summers trawl. Last seasons mistakes must not be repeated. And one thing is certain we will see new blood in at the Swans before the big kick off in August, and more than likely afterwards.
